This school offers more than one program or track leading to a medical degree. In addition to the MD program, the School of Medicine also offers some other medical-related courses, including Nursing (BSN), Public Health (BSHP), and Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy (MSCP). It operates under Jimma University, which was established in 1999. Faculty of health sciences is one of the recently established (2017) faculties under the current Institute of health (IH) after splitting the former college of health and medical sciences in to three faculties including the public health faculty and medical sciences faculty. The faculty offers programs in medicine, nursing, midwifery, public health, pharmacy, and medical laboratory science. Jimma University Institute of Health has three faculties; namely, Health Science, Medicine, and Public Health. These faculties encompass 22 departments. The School of Medicine has a strong faculty and staff, and its facilities are well-equipped. The faculty runs five undergraduate training programs (Medicine, Health Officer, Physiotherapy, Anesthesia and Dentistry), five graduate programs, fifteen specialty training, five Subspecialty training (together with our alumni) and one PhD program. Jimma University Institute of Health Faculty of Medical Science is located in Jimma, Oromia Region, Ethiopia.
